Hopper Smart Snacks in Victoria, have introduced a range natural food colourings for your cake decorating needs.Hopper natural colours are actually ‘colouring foodstuffs’ concentrates made from fruits and vegetables such as elderberries, pumpkins, carrots and red cabbage.
Because they are a colours extracted nature they are classified as food ingredients not ‘additives’ which are represented by a number or and E-number.
Hopper natural colours are derived using a water extraction process, solvents or chemicals are not used in the manufacturing process, and they do not contain any artificial functional additives.

Artificial ingredients & Nasties
Storage : Products must be frozen or refrigerated to maintain colours. Defrost to room temperature prior to use.Can be frozen and defrosted repeatedly as required
Please note: Hoppers Natural Food colour do no longer come with a glass dropper.
DIRECTIONS: Please Note: Natural Food Colours are extracted from plants and so these pigments are naturally pH sensitive. Most plants are slightly to moderately acidic and so natural colours work best with slightly acidic ingredients.
Egg whites, cows milk and some tap water are alkaline. With these ingredients the red, pink and purple colours will tend towards blue/grey. To correct this please ensure that you add some acidic ingredients such as citric acid, citrus juice or cream of tartar to your mix. For example:
Meringue: Add 1/8 tsp cream of tartar per egg.
Cakes with egg: Add 1 tsp lemon juice.
Icing Sugar: 2 drops lemon juice per cup of sugar.
