Pizza from Scratch!

Did you know that Pizza purchased from the supermarket contains Preservative 250 (Sodium Nitrate), 223, Sodium Metabisulphite, And the pre-made sauce from the supermarket contains a lot of salt and unnecessary additives.
Why not make your own! - If you prepare a little in advance you can create a great tasting and healthier pizza.

4 cups of Untreated Organic Plain Flour
3 teaspoon of Dry Active Yeast
1 ½ teaspoon of Salt
1 ½ teaspoon of Sugar
425 ml warm water (150ml boiling and 275ml cold)
2 teaspoon of Olive Oil

1. In a large bowl, or container, mix together Flour, Yeast, Salt and Sugar. Make a well in the middle of the flour.

2.
Add the water and oil in the well and mix together with your hand until it forms a dough. Cover the bowl with a clean tablecloth to keep warm and leave in a warm place for a few hours until the mixture rises. You can also make the dough in a Bread Machine.

 3. When the dough has doubled in size you can take it out and place on floured board or work area. Work with the dough with some more flour if it is too sticky.

4. When you are ready to cook, preheat the oven to 220°C

5. Cut the dough up in smaller balls of dough. Roll the individual balls flat with a rolling pin to the size of the pizza tray. Make sure you grease the tray with oil and before you add the rolled out pizza dough on the tray.

6. Top with Sauce Topping (see below) and your favourite toppings. Watch out for products that have additives for the topping. Many shredded cheese’s and hams contain harmful additives. Why not buy a pear shaped Mozzarella and grate it yourself.

Your children can make their own pizza faces - Try using a slice of pepper for a smiley mouth, perhaps an olive for a nose, halved cherry tomatoes or pineapple for eyes and a cheese for the hair.

7. Place in the oven and Cook for about 20 minutes. To check if it is ready, with a spatula lift the underside of the base. When the underside is brown it is ready.
ENJOY!!!
